Mining is a lottery, and the tickets are guesses. Your machine takes the next batch of transactions, adds a random number, and scrambles the lot into a fixed-length code. If that code lands below tonight's target, it wins. If not — new number, guess again. There is no clever shortcut. The only way through is brute force, which is exactly why the work is worth paying for.
Alone, a machine like yours would expect to win roughly once every 400 years. That is not a business. So it doesn't work alone.
Your machine finds a number that isn't a winning ticket, but is close — and a near miss is mathematically impossible to fake without having done the work. That proof is called a share. Shares are the receipt. They are how we know precisely how much your device contributed, and why nobody can farm rewards with a fake device.

Every transaction on has to be locked into a block, and locking it requires finding a number nobody can predict. Machines find it by trying billions of possibilities. Checking an answer takes a millisecond. Finding one takes the whole network two minutes.
The winner claims freshly minted coins plus the fees on every transaction in that block. That is where mined money comes from — not from other users, and not from anybody's deposit. It's minted by the network for the work of securing it.
A single phone or laptop would wait centuries for a win. Pooled together, the group wins constantly, and the reward is divided by how much work each machine proved it did. Steady trickle instead of a lottery you never hit.

Mining makes the processor work harder, which means more heat and power draw. We run at half speed by default and pause when a device gets hot. Phones mine only while charging. Sustained heat does shorten battery life over time, which is why those limits exist.
Antivirus tools flag mining software by default because it is usually installed without permission. Ours is installed by you, on purpose, and the engine is open source.
Google and Apple both ban on-device mining outright. Android installs from this site; iPhone can't run it in the background at all.
Each friend who installs and mines increases your reward rate, up to the cap. It is a bonus on your rewards — your device's actual mining speed doesn't change.
